Installing Windows Media Player Plugin for Firefox

One of my friends called me and just asked me about how to install windows media player for Firefox. She said she clicked on the menu in the auto play dialog and it opens up Firefox (her default browser. And now she has a blank screen on her computer. She thought it was virus! And was trying to grab her data. She is using Microsoft windows xp as her operating system. Then I asked her about the windows Media player plug-in and she said she didn’t install it. You too had the same problem. Not a big deal. This happened because you don’t have the plug-in for Firefox. We just need to download that plug-in. The procedure follows below –

Installation

Just download and run the plug-in installer. You'll probably want to close Firefox during the installation.

Verifying Plug-in Installation

After running through the very quick installation wizard, you might be curious if the installation actually worked. While the easiest method is to just open a Windows Media video, you can also type the following into the address bar to see the list of loaded plug-ins:

And now you can view this Windows Media format video file in Firefox…

If you still face technical problem... just call us on 1800602586 for technical support.

Clear Download History in Firefox

Few days back my mother wanted some new add-ons on her computer. She has a Dell computer which I guess she has been using it for ages. So I told her that I will do it for her. I downloaded some of the firefox add-ons and extensions for her to make it easy for her. While downloading one thing which was really annoying was that it was showing the list of the previous downloads. In one way it is a good thing… you can search through the items downloaded. But on the other hand it is a computer security issue... clearing your private data before anyone can access that. The most important thing is if you have a shared computer or laptop, privacy and PC security may very well be the main concern. But changing some of the settings can certainly help.

Open Firefox and click on Tools \ Options and then the Privacy tab.  Under Private Data check the box Always clear my private data….” and uncheck “Ask me before clearing …” then click on the Setting button.

In the Clear Private Data box check “Download History” and any other download add-on you might have which appears. And then click OK.

Finally while still in Options, click on the Main tab and under Downloads, uncheck “Show the Downloads window …” and click OK to get out of options and accept all the changes.

Now you will not see the Download box pop up and every time you close out of Firefox all download history is cleared.

It is really very simple… do give it a try... if you are not able to do it or if you have any other technical problem with computers, laptops, virus removal, spyware issues, digital camera, printer, scanner…, give us a call on 1800602586, for technical support and computer support. We will be more than happy to serve you.

Deny access to file and folders in windows vista

Sometimes there are some personal files which we don’t want someone else to have access on them. In that case we can lock those files. We can restrict the access easily in Microsoft windows vista.

Setting up a security for a folder or a file is very easy. Simply right click on the folder which you want to lock. Select properties and then select Security tab in folder properties window and then click Edit button. Click on the Add button to open the "Select Users or Group" window.

Now enter the username in the text box for the file which you want lock on your computer.

Or you can do this as well,

If you are not sure about the username then click the advanced button, which opens the search window.

To search all users click the Find Now button and then locate the user which you want restrict access to the folder and click OK. Now, you will see the username listed in the Security Permissions window, click on the username to select.

Select the Deny Permissions for that user by checking the Deny box for Full Control.

Then there will be popup window in front of you giving you a security message which says Deny entries always override the allow permissions, click yes and then OK.

This way you can keep your important documents safe from other people by blocking the access in your Microsoft operating system.

How to backup and restore Passwords in Firefox

It’s quite easy to backup and restore passwords in Firefox. I use windows xp on my desktop and windows 7 on my laptop. (Here whatever I’m discussing is what I have done on windows xp not on windows 7), and you just need an Add on for this. If you want to backup your profile along with the passwords, bookmarks etc. then you have to go the Add on page and look for Password exporter there, where you can click the Options button to bring up the Import/Export Passwords dialog.

From there you can easily import or export your passwords using this dialog and you can also choose to encrypt them if you want to. You can get them into CSV (excel) format and XML as well. But be careful as passwords can be misused.

If still, you can’t work it out, don’t hesitate to contact, call 1800 602 586, toll free number. We will help you with your entire technical problems, whether it’s your computer problem, digital camera, or mp3 player.

Features of WINDOWS 7

Finally Microsoft has released Windows 7 beta for trail period and we can download it from its website. Till 24th anyone who registers them on their site, will get a temporary license key for the Beta 1 version and the beta release will expire on August 1 2009. I tried it...God it’s amazing...I m really looking forward to get it on my pc permanently as soon as it gets release, not only the  graphics but everything about is really cool. I took my time to look into its new features, below I have mentioned some of them. So, Here I m again to share it with you…

The default desktop for Windows 7 is really very simple and blue as you can see that, and is quite impressive. The graphics are good as they were in windows Vista.

You just can’t miss the new taskbar, which has large icons instead of taskbar buttons and it gives Quick launch functionality as well. This time Microsoft has added a really cool feature which is in its right click menu, it gives you access to your recent documents and special folders… which I thinks is good .As there will be no need to go to the start menu and click on Recent documents. And there is a new API that will allow applications to add items and files to the list. And in case you didn’t like this feature, I mean the large icons, you can always go to Taskbar and Start Menu Properties (right click \ Properties). The "Taskbar buttons" setting will let you turn off the single icon mode, and you can choose "Use small icons" to turn off the big icons.

In windows 7 the same files are grouped in one taskbar button(that is by default, even if you have only two or 3 windows open. When you hover your mouse over it, Windows 7 will automatically flip to that window so you can see in a larger view which window it is. Very useful for Ms Office and other documents which we use.

Windows Vista had a sidebar, so do windows 7 have, but little flexible as it was not in Windows Vista. For Gadgets you'll have to right-click on the desktop and choose Gadgets to add more, which can be dragged to the desktop anywhere you'd like. It’s pretty easy and I m sure you will like it too.

The start menu is almost the same as it was in Vista and search options are better than before…. You'll see an arrow next to Getting Started… whenever you see an arrow on a pinned item, you can hover your mouse over it to see a list of tasks on the right-hand side, with a "slide out" effect.

Here is a new brand feature which lets you maximize or tile windows by dragging them to one of the sides of the screen, like you dragged the window to left side of the monitor… after dragging it to the left side you will see a glass window effect as it is shown in the picture. And once you let go of the mouse, the window will take up exactly half of the screen.

Now let’s go to the right side of the taskbar… near the clock, this is the new "Show Desktop" icon with a style, if a hover you mouse over it, it will turn all the open windows to glass, letting you see what is beneath. I actually liked this feature but I don’t have any reason to like it do much...but it looks great.

The system tray is also changed, with all extra icons being hidden behind a little arrow. You'll can also see that the taskbar is now little taller and the date is shown on the screen now.

There is still more to go...but for now...This much is ok...Will catch up soon on its rest of the features in my next post.

And if you find any computer problems then dont worry ...we are here to providde you Technical support 24x7.
